Ambrotype of Mrs. David Bartlett. Enclosed note states, "Mrs. David Bartlett. Born in Lynn, Mass. & wife of Capt. David. They lived at north end of Isl. & was known as Aunt Katy. She had a son who was drowned. Her husband was in Navy in Civil War." She died in 1876 at 74 years of age; Capt. Bartlett had died in 1871 at 75 years of age. Mrs. Bartlett's maiden name was Ro[si or ze]lla G. Haynes. Her daughter probably had the same name; the daughter's tombstone gives her name as "Rozella". Emma Whitmore raised Nell Whitmore, her niece. Joe Whitmore, a sea captain, was Emma's brother. Emma A. Whitmore: b. 6 November 1859; d. 14 October 1949 (per Vining, p. 344).
