Description: This is a 7 and 1/2 by 10 inch ledger or record book entitled, Somesville C.E. Society. The script for the initials is fancy and so the "C" is an educated guess made by me after checking the script in the book. (ALW) The first entry is dated Aug 27/95. Judging by the dates in the other ledgers, it is probably 1895. This entry relates the efforts of the young people of Somesville, along with the Pastor and wife, to organize a 'young Peoples Society of Christian Endeavor'. The secretary signed as Blanche Somes. The rest of the pages are notes or minutes for this group from 1895-1913 with the last entry written by Katherine Fernald. [show more]

His early studies flirt with a rather more flamboyant expression, but he finally gravitates to the more traditional composition This classical design for the town's High School is very similar to the design of many local schools throughout the nation in the early 20th century. The health and educational reform principles of adequate light and ventilation are clearly incorporated with ample windows in each room. The elements of design are typical for this type of Colonial revival composition. A rusticated base is topped with a solid and strong masonry brick Facade. It is further punctuated with groupings of large windows all painted a light color. This composition is capped with a strong projecting cornice. The brick details and limestone accents are nicely balanced [show more]
