Description: White fabric belt and yellow metal Grand Army of the Republic buckle and clasp, with five-pointed star with seal and letter GAR on the buckle. Clasp at end of belt. Fabric has yellowed, but is in good condition. This buckle belonged to John Willman Smith of Prett Marsh. He served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Civil War.

Description: Cased daguerreotype of Capt. Eben L. Higgins, sea captain of Mount Desert (1807-1900). Calling card of Mrs. Lester E. Pray is enclosed in the case. Note on back of card: "Picture of Capt. Eben L. Higgins, one of the well known Sea Captains of the island in former years." Captain Higgins was the husband of Hannah D. He died on December 28, 1900, at age 92 years, 9 months, and is buried in the Hamilton Station Cemetery in Bar Harbor. [show more]

Description: Pair of woman's brown leather lace-up, high-heel shoes with leather soles and pointed toes. Size 39. Marked "Crossen Shoe". Right toe very scuffed and worn. Soles worn, especially on right shoe. Marked inside: "39 1 24649 1 Class 1222 957". Toes have inset piece of a second brown letter with stitching along border . Donor info - from Eugene Merchant house (donor’s father) former Dr. Kendall Kittredge house outside historic district. Believed to belong to Dr. Kittredge (1773-1857).

Some discoloration but still in good condition. Original box is included. a lock of is hair is also in the box in paper. These shoes belonged to Steven Joseph Carvajal.
