She died at age 22.

Inside the box are trinkets: 3 miniature pewter spoons; 1 Lilac Sweets perfume bottle; one hair pin with glass flower; one brooch with with two leaves and a flower with glass inset; 10 miscellaneous buttons, one sewn on cloth; and one unknown piece of wood or ivory that would screw into another object. Sawyer’s Office Up Stairs.” Sawyer had office in Southwest Harbor in the late 19th century into the twentieth. Sign was taken from the Freeman-Wall’s house on Wesley Avenue in Southwest Harbor next door to Freeman’s store.Taken down by Jerry Craige owner of house in 1976. Sawyer’s Office reached by enclosed staircase in back of the building. [show more]

A collection of the remains of 19th-century leather shoes discovered in the kitchen crawlspace during the 2013 remodeling of the Great Cranberry Island Congregational Church parsonage. Twenty soles or pieces of soles, two heel uppers with soles missing, remains of nine high boots with eyelets, and twenty leather show scraps.

Five horse shoes of various types mounted on wood. Four nails also mounted. Donor info - wood from Louis Reed’s blacksmith shop on Mullein Hill. Horse shoes made for various racing horses. According to a visiting researcher and blacksmith, Ingrid Grenon (508-528-4872) of Franklin, MA, all except one are corrective shoes for racing horses. From left to right the first shoe is for a hind foot and has a trailor (trailer?) for traction in mud, the second shoe also has a trailor with a toe clip to prevent the shoe from sliding back, the third shoe is a bar shoe to stabilize the heel area (note also the squared toe), no further comments on the fourth shoe, the fifth shoe is not a corrective shoe.
