Joan Staats, scientist and librarian, died at 78 on April 13, 2000. Joined the Jackson Laboratory as science technician in 1949 and became its librarian . She had to rebuild the library of resource materials after the fire of ‘47 and until her death was an invaluable resource of knowledge for the staff. She was active in AAUW, served on various community committees. The article is very detailed.
